"Works well, but the waiting gets frustrating"
The agent has been solid for us overall. It runs fine and doesn’t really need babysitting, which I appreciate. My only frustration is the waiting around when things take longer than expected, but once it’s going, it does its job without much hassle...

"Helpful onboarding with a mostly smooth experience"
tenable’s training was really helpful for getting our team up and running. The onboarding calls covered the basics clearly, and the documentation was easy to follow. A few parts moved a little slowly, and I did have to ask the same question more than once, but overall it was a smooth experience and we got set up without much stress. Solid overall, just not perfect.

"Risk scores haven’t been that useful for us"
I’ve been using tenable for a while now, and the risk scoring still throws me off more often than not. Some things show up as high risk but don’t really feel like they need immediate attention in our environment, while other issues we actually care about seem to get pushed down the list. I was looking at it one morning with coffee going cold on my desk, and we still ended up arguing over what was actually important.
Because of that, my team and I still go through a lot of it manually, which kind of defeats the purpose. The score is supposed to help us prioritize faster, but it hasn’t really saved us much time. For what it costs, I expected it to feel a lot more reliable and practical day to day.

"I tried using Tenable for credentialed scanning..."
I tried using Tenable for credentialed scanning, and it turned into way more of a headache than I expected. At first the setup seemed straightforward, but once I actually needed consistent results, it felt like the requirements kept shifting and I was always chasing some new issue.
The scans would come back with missing checks, failed logins, or random gaps even though the same credentials worked fine in other places. Every time I thought I had fixed one thing, something else would pop up, like the goalposts had moved again and I was back to troubleshooting from scratch.
The support docs helped a bit, but not enough to make the process feel smooth. For what it costs, I expected a lot less babysitting. Maybe other teams have better luck with it, but my experience was frustrating and disappointing.

"Updates feel like they’re not really moving forward"
I’ve been using Tenable for a while now, and I don’t know, something feels off with the way the updates have been coming out. Most of them seem like minor fixes or little UI changes rather than anything that actually makes the product feel better or more modern. It kind of feels like they’re just keeping things running instead of pushing it forward.
For what it costs, I expected more progress by now. Other tools seem to be moving quicker with smoother workflows and smarter features, while Tenable still feels pretty much the same. It still does the basics, but from an innovation standpoint, it feels like it’s lagging behind, which is disappointing

"Tenable has been reliable for us overall. It..."
Tenable has been reliable for us overall. It catches most of the real issues we care about, and the false positives haven’t been too bad. We do still have to double-check some results now and then, but for the most part, it’s been a “solid” tool we can count on.

"I tried to figure out what this thing..."
I tried to figure out what this thing actually costs, and it felt like the price was buried behind a bunch of annoying forms and sales calls. Like, come on, just show the damn pricing upfront. For a small team like ours, it was a complete waste of time and kind of a pain in the ass.

"tenable.com has solid cloud security coverage..."
tenable.com has solid cloud security coverage, it did catch a few AWS issues that I feel like we probably would have missed otherwise. That part gave me a good feeling, like it was actually doing what we needed it to do.

The dashboard is fine, but I don’t know, sometimes it just felt like there was too much clicking around to get to the basic stuff. A few of the alerts also came across as kind of noisy, so we had to spend time tuning things before it felt right.

Overall, I don’t think it’s bad at all. It definitely works for cloud checks, and there’s value there, but I was expecting it to feel a bit smoother. For a smaller team, I can see it being a little heavier than you’d want.

"Priorities feel all over the place"
I keep getting flooded with alerts, and a lot of the time the priority levels don’t really line up with what actually feels risky. The team keeps making vague promises about improving it, but nothing has really changed yet. It just makes it harder to know what actually needs attention first.

"Reports do the job, but the filters feel clunky"
The compliance reports are mostly fine and give me what I need, but setting up the filters takes longer than it probably should. I asked support about it and they basically said something like, “Try saving a preset once you get the filters the way you want,” which helps a bit, but the process still feels more tedious than it needs to be.

"I’ve been using the Tenable API for reports..."
I’ve been using the Tenable API for reports and syncing data, and it’s been way more frustrating than it should be. The docs don’t line up with what actually happens half the time, the error messages are barely useful, and the rate limits feel like they change for no clear reason. I’ve burned hours just testing basic calls that should’ve worked right away. Support wasn’t much help either. Whoever runs this really needs to clean it up, because it’s not something I’d want to rely on for automation.

"I’ve been using the dashboard for a bit..."
I’ve been using the dashboard for a bit, and it feels like there’s roughly too much packed into it. Some pages load okay, but I still end up clicking around more than I expected just to find basic things. The filters and reports are also a little unclear, at least to me. It technically works, but it feels clunky when I’m just trying to check something quickly.

"Helpful alerts, but the noise can get annoying"
tenable does send alerts quickly, and when they’re relevant, they’re definitely useful. That said, the notification volume can get irritating at times, especially when it feels like it’s flagging more than you actually need to see. You can tune it down, which helps, but it still took some patience to get it to a better place. Overall, I’m satisfied with it, but the extra noise is the part that stands out to me most.

"I had to make a few license..."
I had to make a few license changes after our team shifted around, and it was simple. I was expecting more back and forth, but it ended up being no big hassle at all.

"Support could’ve been a lot better"
The Tenable product itself has been decent, I don’t really have a big issue with that, but dealing with tech support was frustrating because I kept getting sent the same basic help links and asked repeat questions like nobody was really digging into what was going on, and it took way longer than it should have to get any kind of clear answer, then even when they finally responded with something useful it only fixed part of the problem.

"Felt like some assets were just overlooked"
We tried using the asset discovery, but it missed quite a few things on our network. It also had that kind of no-real-person-there feeling, like there wasn’t much guidance or confidence that someone would help catch what the tool missed.

"Doesn’t slow things down much"
I notice a little bit of lag when it’s running scans, but it’s not too bad and the rest of the time everything feels normal, so I can live with it

"Better than I expected, despite a few false alarms"
I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, and the false positives can get annoying here and there. But they’ve been mostly manageable, and overall it’s worked well for me.

"Docs are decent, but a little unclear sometimes"
Tenable’s docs are mostly fine, and I can usually get through the basic setup stuff without too much digging. Some of the pages are detailed too, which is helpful when I already have a rough idea of what I’m trying to do.
That said, it’s kind of hard to describe, but a lot of it feels a bit scattered. I’ve run into steps where a small detail seems missing, or the screenshots don’t quite match what I’m seeing. It’s not awful, just not always as clear as it could be for regular users

"Solid tool, but the cost is hard to ignore"
tenable has been good overall, and the scans definitely catch useful things. I tend to look for patterns in the results, and it does help highlight recurring issues across our environment. That said, for what it costs, I expected the day-to-day management to feel a little smoother. It’s not a bad product at all, but if you’re on a smaller team, it can be hard to feel like you’re getting the full value for the price
